Here’s one of Julia’s very early springtime sets, mostly to help you appreciate her own personal decorating evolution. (We all start somewhere!) At the time, Julia was trying to perfect her skills through practice of almost every decorating technique under the sun! For instance, the butterflies rely primarily on wet-on-wet marbling, whereas the posies and baskets show examples of appliqué work in the flower arrangements on top, and stenciling and needlepoint on their bases. For more details on these techniques and many others, take a look at Julia’s book Ultimate Cookies.
