Julia made not one, but two contoured cookie Christmas trees for her holiday fireplace vignette. She started this version like the other tree pictured elsewhere in this gallery: by stacking several contoured hemisphere cookies and covering them with green royal icing. Next, she applied the swag (again, piped royal icing), the ornaments (a combination of painted royal icing transfers and dragées), and the flocking (nonpareils and sanding sugar). As for the tree skirt, it’s rubber-stamped fondant trimmed with royal icing. For information about how to make this tree and the many other details in Julia’s fireplace vignette, see this video. And to learn how she put the entire scene together, check out this video.
