Julia’s always a fan of edibles that do doubly duty – that both taste great and look so good that they can stand in as table décor. This hand-piped chocolate doily is a case in point. Julia made this large piece as an underliner for a sweets platter. Once the sweets on top were gone, guests gobbled up the doily, but not without first feigning that it was “too beautiful to eat”! Single-color semisweet chocolate doilies, like this one, are also great practice for the larger challenge of making one of Julia’s signature chocolate-lace wrapped cakes.
