This party at Julia’s summer place in Maine was so spur of the moment that she hadn’t a spare second to mail invitations, much less craft them from scratch (her clear preference with more time, of course). And with no craft stores within miles anyway, she decided to assemble her party invitations not from paper, but with the plethora of wild lupine and buttercups outside her back door. She tucked unstructured bouquets into Ball jars and in turn into bags, and then walked the neighborhood hand-delivering these charming invitation-totes. The tote pictured here was made by local artisan One Woman Studio from spent grain and seed bags.
