After having been flabbergasted by a nomination for the first-ever Australian Cake Artists & Decorators Association (ACADA) international teaching award (see the prior “Kudos” entry), Julia was flabbergasted a second time by her fourth nomination by ACADA for their Global Sugar Hero Award. Julia was honored to have won this award in 2024, and would have been delighted if the outcome was the same in 2026 (alas, it wasn’t!). However, just getting nominated is a huge victory – it’s an acknowledgment by the public, industry peers, and ACADA’s professional judges that a decorator’s contributions to the global sugar arts community are among the absolute best. Not only that, but Julia was surprised by an even bigger recognition at the 2026 ACADA Awards Gala (see the next “Kudos” entry)!
