Cookies are always a joy to make and eat, but they’re especially fun when worked into party décor. For this centerpiece made for a staged party in Mary Engelbreit’s Home Companion, Julia mounted pinwheel-shaped sugar cookies on dowel rods with thick royal icing. Once the icing was thoroughly dry, the cookie pinwheels were safe to lift and arrange. Julia opted to create a 3-D arrangement from these very simple 2-D cookies by threading the dowel rods through stacks of cookies with holes in their centers. How clever!
