Julia’s great grandmother, affectionately called “Nana” by the Usher kids, served this ginger-coriander cake all by itself at Christmastime. (It is steamed, and has a high water content, so it is incredibly moist.) But, being the more-is-more person that Julia is, she couldn’t leave well enough alone – she had to make it even more decadent! One Christmas not too long ago, she layered it with eggnog buttercream and candied citrus, and the combination met with rave reviews.
