One of Julia’s latest fascinations is creating dimensional royal icing flowers with a piecework technique, wherein each petal is piped separately and then joined together. These fabulous folk art-style flowers were made precisely this way, and were later used to adorn Julia’s towering 3-D bird’s nest cookie.
