Important Update: Unfortunately, That Takes the Cake Show canceled on January 16 due to COVID, and so this in-person format of the competition was also canceled. But there’s good news: Julia will be re-launching her 2022 competition in a virtual format (similar to 2021) in mid-June with the same Broadway & Musicals theme and other rules originally posted for this competition. See the “Competitions” section and the blog on this site for announcements.

It’s official – after a COVID-induced virtual edition in 2021, Julia’s annual cookie art competition has returned to its usual in-person format at That Takes the Cake show in Round Rock, Texas (February 26 and 27, 2022)! The theme is Broadway & Musicals, and all of the rules have already been announced on the That Takes the Cake site, so don’t delay in starting your entry! NEW THIS YEAR: two skills-based classifications, meaning that you can enter the usual 2-D and 3-D Cookie categories as either a beginner/intermediate or advanced/master decorator and only compete against others of similar skill level. More info about sponsorship and prizes will be coming after the New Year, so stay tuned!
